Northamptonshire Healthcare releases new film showcasing The Sett CAMHS inpatient unit

Northamptonshire Healthcare NHS Foundation Trust has released a new short film offering a look inside The Sett, the Trust’s award-winning new CAMHS inpatient unit at Berrywood Hospital. Designed by Fleet Architects in close partnership with young people, families and staff, the new facility replaces the former standalone unit and provides a calm, generous environment for care and recovery.

The film features members of the clinical team reflecting on the impact of the new building. Staff speak warmly about the quality of the spaces, the improved layout and the sense of welcome the new design provides. The additional rooms, larger communal areas and purpose-built extension are highlighted throughout, with team members noting how much the extra space supports day-to-day care, group activities and one-to-one interventions.

Ward Manager Ann Esposito emphasises the benefits of the new extension, while healthcare assistants describe the environment as “really welcoming” and “much bigger and better than before”. Colleagues also reflect on the value of the early engagement work with young people, which shaped several aspects of the building and its use.

The Sett recently received two Gold Awards and one Silver Award at the 2025 Building Better Healthcare Awards, recognising design quality, partnership working and the improved experience for young people and staff. The Trust’s new film offers a clear sense of how the building is now supporting care in practice.
